Well I live up in snowy land and just found out I didn't drain all the water from block, yes- crack. My dalema is take the good parts from the block, aftermarket rods,crank, good pistons. and put in another 40 over 350 or drop the assembly in a 400 block for a 377 or shelf the parts and build a straight 400. I am always for simple so I am leaning tword another 358.
Any thoughts???

377 all the way, especially if you like to get off the corners hard with a little more gear.

If your car is geared for the 350 and that fits your driving style then the 377 is for you. It will have the power at the same rpm's, but more of it.

I have received positive feedback regarding the 377 being a good way to go. I was flipping through some catalogs and was wondering what people thought of 377's coming from Midwest motorsports, Jr etc.

What connecting rod do you use in the 377? 5.7 with 400 crank in 350 block? If so, do you have to change from Stock 350 pistons? Just curious!

400 CRANK IN A 350 BLOCK MAKES A 383. Reverse it for a 377. Assuming all is .030 over bore.

My 2 cents. If your 358 rotating assembly are quality parts, get a 350 block, do the machine work and drop the stuff in. I assume it's already been balanced. If you find a good 400 block and try to reuse the good parts you have for a 377, you'll need to buy new pistons, plus bearing spacers. Also you'll need to re-balance. I figure that's at least $600 or more you'll spend with the 377. I'd use the saving to upgrade my heads / intake / carb.

Yes everything is high quality and balanced.
038 I am leaning that way I have a couple 350 blocks so I will only be out machining cost. I was wondering I don't see a lot of people running 383 combo is there a reason or just haven't heard. To me seems like the 8 inch tire maybe too small for the 383??

I like the 383s but that's cause I like to tractor the engine anyhow. I only run about 6750rpm or less most of the time with them. Since I just stuff them with gear I can usually just stomp the gas in the corners and not break traction (asphalt) works great.

My dad is the exact opposite he wants to scream the engine and get off the corners quickly to drag race down the straights. So we kinda have to set our cars up different. And build our engines different.
