I use either one since both of there race bearing's are the same bearing , just packaged in a different box . Federal Mogul owns Clevite . I'll tell you though .... I wish I could still get my hand's on Vanderville (? spelling) bearing's !!!!! The old Vanderville bearing had a much higher load rating , and a little more imbedabuility to it .

i remember a machinist/engine builder i used to know before he died named jim morris. you might know him steve as he used to build nascar engines in the 70's for leon boomershine.

jim used to swear by vandervel bearings. when he died, i bought all his stocked vandervels from his widow. sorry, they're all ford bearings......

Sorry outlawstock17 , I'm not familiar with Jim Morris . I was terrorizing the school yard in the mid 70's

I've still got some SB Chevy Vandervel's , but they are all large journal bearings , which we don't use too often anymore . I remember when they all went extinct , my dad was calling everywhere trying to buy as many as he could . They were packaged in Speed-Pro box's for quite a while after Federal Mogul bought them . But in there infinite wisdom , they finally quit selling the Vandervel bearing and shut them down . It's hard to switch over from a proven product , especially when it comes to engine bearing's ! We did a lot of cycle test's on our dyno mule motor before we were happy with a different brand of bearing .

Hang onto the Ford bearing's ! They are a collector's item .

sdhnc 29 I don't mean to correct you but clevite is part of dana corp which Chrysler owns part of or did own part of.Federal mogul is part of spx (sealed power)

Federal Mogul is the parent company. They bought TRW,Vandervil,McCord gaskets, Fel-Pro gaskets,Champion plugs Wagner brakes,BCA brgs, National seals and some other smaller companys. They are currently pursuing the aquisition of Bendix brakes.

Federal Mogul is also directly involved in the shortage of valve lifters due to the shut down of Johnson lifter Co. and their bankruptsy and lack of payment to Johnson.

As far as bearings go,,,the Federal Mogul engine bearings and Clevite 77 engine bearings are rated at the same load rating.

I use King HP series bearings in my oval and drag motors. If the motor is going to be on alcohol I will get Calico to coat them.
