try using a longer s-crew in stud.

Never used the cool nuts from Speedway, but personally, I'd stay away from them.

I had the exact same problem you had with a set of Pioneer (cheap) poly locks. Same recessed area at the bottom without threads. Broke a few studs with them too.

I've since switched over to a set of Lunati locks, and they're threaded all the way down. Cost was only about $5 more. Guess you get what you pay for sometimes...

I too have been bit by the no-name studs in the past. It's ARP or nothing from now on.

I highly reccomend swiching over to 7/16 studs. Iv you have to but studs and rockers anyway the cost difference is very small.
