I've got hard spots in my steering. Does that mean my steering box is bad? If I disconnect the pitman arm from the front end, should i still be able to feel the hard spots?

yes to the first q and yes and no to the second. If there is any hard spots if the steering is hooked up or not I would change the box. I had one once just like you described and didnt change it and it locked up one night putting me in the wall.

First make sure you steering shaft isn't bent hitting the radiator or firewall. Also check the steering quickener. If it isn't that and you are sure its in the box, repair it or replace it. Don't run it, it's not worth the risk of it failing.

Our box has a tight spot but its right at the center of turns. When the car is running it is fine no tough spots at all.

I'm not running a KSE pump. What do i need to check for on the quickener? I checked it and it seemed to be working fine so I think it's the box. The box is #7826692. Can anyone tell me what this came off of? Thanks
