I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but, a Bert is somewhat difficult to rebuild if you are'nt 'transmission minded'. you will have to fabricate a couple of special tools to get the job done. I charge 100 dollars plus parts cost, to rebuild one, and i feel i earn every penny.......LOL, Now a Brinn, on the other hand, is much easier....ford5
oh yeah, you can get on the net and get an exploded view of the will help you if you attempt it.

Ask your local speed shop if they have the parts book you can buy. It has the exploded view and some pictures on doing the job. I have done a few with no problem. Like ford5 said you have to make the tools for the job.

you can do it if you can rebuild an engine or stock tranny. just make sure you put all spacers and bearings back where they came from or your gears won't mesh right. you will also need a very good set of snap ring pliers. and be careful of the check balls and springs on the shifer rods.
