Used cages like that for years work great and are simple.GRT cages are like that.

you can mount the brakes tothe birdcages, it works ok, but can hold up the car when on the brakes, also if you have them on the birdcage it will not let the 90/10s work as well or a 6th coil work as well.
i prefer on axle but they will work on birdcage.

If you have problems with the swing arm ditch it, we didnt particularly care for it and are running just a z link on the right rear. Badasi1tob if you want some spring rates and shock rates email me at systemtech1@charter.net and i can give you some suggestions.

if you run the calipers clamped to the birdcage you can pretty much throw out the 90/10 and the 6th, they are not affecting the car in the least when braking, but will slightly when deaccelerating due to engine braking.
