Moving the mounting point left to right will bias which wheel it affects more. Moving to the left will load the left more on acceleration and same moving it right. Id start pretty much center of the rear. As for preload with a straight rate spring it doesnt really need any. Just snug it or give a little extra just so that its not loose in the housing. If it were a progressive then id say 1/4" and adjust from there. Start around 15-20 degrees down angle.

I run ours 1" to the left to help exit, and 15 to 20 degrees down depending on track condition. Make sure you put in a 90/10 shock up at 5 to 7 degrees to prevent wheel hop upon braking. The shock should be centered.
