We installed our new falcon transmission and found that when engaging the clutch in low and reverse, it makes a very loud screeching noise. As you pick up speed in low, the noise lessens. It seems to be worse in reverse. The noise goes away when in direct drive. Has anyone had this problem?

Its not uncommon to have the squeal when engaging the clutch pedal. He will lessen as the tranny breaks in. Just make sure you push in the pedal all the way once the car is moving. Make sure you have a solid pedal, bleed the line very well. Don't worry to much about it, you will just get some funny looks for awhile.

we went to a 3/4 inch master cyl and it got rid of most of that. if i could find a 1/2 inch i'd run it. the smaller the master the more pressure you can apply to the clutch pack and avoid the sqealing. floor mounted pedals (like we have) don't have as much leverage ratio as hanging ones do so that doesn't help either.

Thanks for the info. We thought it might be inherent, but just wanted to make sure.
