A dzus on passenger door if nothing else is handy. Especially for working on the tranny.

Just a little crazy!!!!!!

The south is about ten years behind. We run OWM, LLM and some LM here in Florida and we run them. On the dirt cars it is just to dang easy to take three panels off and clean the chassis between rounds yet every week year after year we see people getting cut on the aluminum trying to clean the car.
Makes you wonder dosen't it?

I can definately see how they would offer much better access, but I would think that once they get hit and all bent up it would be hard to reuse them or even put new ones in. But I have never used them for entire body panels before either.

We use them on misc panels but not on whole body panels. They are great for fuel filler doors etc. We had a dzus on passenger door once and it was great for access until it got bent or the fasteners wouldnt hold anymore. Even with rivets we can have a door off in 5 minutes,, flatten it out or whatever and have it back on all in 10 or 15 minutes with a drill and rivet gun.

Has anyone tried the plastic Dzus fasteners? I also dzus my whole body and was thinking the plastic ones would cut alot of weight if they hold up!

We use 1/4" drilled farm pins. Cheaper plus stay fastened in a crash unlike the dzus.

How many Dzuits would you use on a single door panel? Please don't say as many as you need. ha ha

Here in the Northeast a lot of tracks have thier safty crews have big headed screw drivers on them at all times. The roofs of Dirt Modifieds are only held on with Dzus bottons. So in the event of a crach and they have to get the driver out, they can just pop the roof off. Thats if the driver is hurt bad.

I've been using them for the right-side door and quarter panel for a while. The bottom three tend to get torn up once and a while but it's worth it, especially for the guys s****ing the mud. (I get to be one of those, too. That would make two of us. )
We take the door and quarter off for mud packing. Sure helps keep the mud work to a minimum. I run three across the top of the door and three on the bottom, as well as two between the door and quarter. Four along the top of the quarter panel, with the bottom pinned with straps. Oh, and we tape each of them just to make sure.
