Spec tire. Because every racer has to buy tires and moct racers can build a motor that will last longer then a crate engine. Crate engines are not built for race use, in most cases.

But I would rather run Hoosier tires then American Racers.

Give us tires so hard they make sparks, weigh the cars, and let us RACE.

Spec tires are the way to go because tire wars and open tire rules cost more than anything else. History has already proven this. Why live it twice?

Spec engines may never take over racing but spec parts like heads, intakes and exhaust will make things closer and stiffle the ever growing horsepower difference between the front and the back of the field. It will curb the endless spending also. The spec ideas would be great for guys like me who are more interested in being behind the wheel than working on the engine.

I dont mind the spec tire rule, it does even everything up a bit.

I dont like spec engines or crate engines because it seems like you end up paying a lot just to call it a 'crate' or 'spec'. Check this out http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?action=prod_detail&catid=3395&pid=153740
I can make 400HP for a lot less than $4900. You could spend $2900 make way more HP and be able to turn it harder than 5900 or whatever they say is the reccomended redline. Id hate to start blowing up 5 grand crate engines while my $2500 homebuilt sits in the corner laughing at me.

i'm kinda in the same line here as super dave the spec heads, carb and intake on imca late models helped alot around here now imca has gone brain dead tho and desided that the concept would be good for the new sport mods a "enty level " class that you have to buy 1000 worth or spec parts to run in i think they need to move them rules to the regular mods and leave the sport mods like our limiteds imca chassis with imca hobby motor no after market heads and intake and a 4412 carb. it's like mw said to many spec parts drive guys away. the tire is not working like it is suposed to look back maybe 5-10 years ago and guys would have told you that you are crazy to try to put as much hp as these guys are pumping out now with these cars and making it work i guess us dumb racers are just getting to smart for our own good lol
