I put Hawk black pads on the left front once to help turn the car when braking. It seemed to help but it wore the rotor pretty fast.

I can tell you this if you get a good pad at a parts store it will last a long time.....but its pretty hard pad...I run the very cheapest on the rear and the bit better on the front...the cheap ones wear out faster but have better bite..and the lifetime ones i run in front....and they last a race car life time!!

If you buy good brake pads (Brakeman, Hawk, etc) you'll never buy the cheap ones again. You need to be careful because some will tear up the rotors faster than others. I have run the Brakeman, Performance Friction, and the Hawk. All worked well and I didn't experience excessive rotor wear. Call the mfg for advice on the compound. They were helpful when I made my selections in the past.
