I guess I like the idea of a sealed crate engine, but how do you do minor maintenance to it? How do ya adjust the valves, or if you had a head gasket leaking what do ya do?

i hate spec parts keeps a low budget do it yourself guy like my out of the class just like the new imca sport mods that everybody thinks is gonna be so great but a guy has to buy enough spec parts that he could build a regular mod motor for about 50 bucks more so how is that affordable racing?and with those big tires and a 430 max gear what kinda tracks are they planning on running 3/4 miles? on a 1/2 mile those things would be lucky to hit 50 mph if i had to spend 3000 on a motor i sure as heck would want to go faster than that. heck my kart at least went 65

the key to the IMCA Mod success has been the skinny tires. THey are the great equalizer. If you can't hook it up....there is no sense in having it. If you want to creat a lower class with more dirverinput and less motor...give the guys less tire. about a 175 70 series. NASCAR same thing if you don't want guys hitting the walls coming off the turns then slow them down...not5 witha restrictor plate but a narrower tire. Then let the teams run what they brung. Your fqast in the strights but must slow for the corners. it will all come back to driver ability and if a team wants to build a big block...then let them,,,of course they will have to make 47 pit stops to keep it fueled up, but that is the much power, how much fuel effiecncy....I hate spec rules on anything except tires...just my $.02

probally not but when a car has 7 shows on its tires and the other car gets new ones every race. it will make a difference.

(The class runs a spec motor, sealed...spec carb, rev limiters, and spec rear gears...very competitive and VERY affordable...)

One night they raced lawn mowers at our track. Pretty much a spec motor (Briggs and Stratton)…..small carb….rev limiters (if they hadn’t yanked the governor off). The race was very competitive, VERY affordable……. but boring as heck. Oh yeah, I’m almost positive some of those guys were running traction control.
