I want to run all bradied brake lines w/ an fittings on my street stock.Is there any disadvantage to this.Some guys say this will give you a softer pedal than steel lines.I figure some of you mod guys are using braided lines.Good or Bad?Thanks

I have been running the Nylon brake lines from Speedway for 5 years. The only time I have ever had a problem was when we worked on the car and forgot to tiewrap the brakeline back in its position. ( getting caught in a rear spring) The lines will burn and melt if they touch the headers or get hit with a large chunk of welding/torching slag but otherwise I have been really happy using them.

Thanks for the replys,I guess i will use the $100 kit from day.The only reason i was going with all braided is b/c my freind works for an industrial hose supply.I can get the lines for a case of beer.

I have been running the nylon brake lines for four years now with no problems at all and if you do break one it is alot quicker to fix then the steel lines.As for the braided lines i have had chunks of dirt or rocks bust them off,but are better then the stock brake hose.

What about running the bradied lines to the gauges.

With any sport or job you deal with or do, you need be educated on what you're dealing with to better understand and to fix the problem correctly. With saying that here's my two cents. I work in a automotive factory were we use nylon lines to run air (100 psi plus)they are on moving parts and rarely fail. Just be careful of what you buy! Now the braided hose theory, I have made high pressure hoses for 2000psi machines some of the hoses you get that are steel braided have a nylon center, but if you buy them already made you can't tell. My suggestion is find a place that makes high pressure hoses near you and go there and talk to them and they will be able to tell you what you can and can't do with hoses what kind of pressure they handle and make any size, and length you need, plus you'll know you're getting high quality hoses for you hard earned cash.

as far as being educated i feel that i have that covered. and first off 100 psi is a long shot from a brake inpulse from a driver in an emergency. and the 2000 psi hoses are good but not cheap. and well they break. i have broken the nice ones on my car. my dad has broken them on his concrete plant(and they do not move or vibrate much no twisting, no rocks, no heat problems(inside a building) and they blow out often.) but do not base anything off of a nylon line can hold 100 psi that is no where close to a brake system.
the cheap and safe way to go is to usehard steel lines then when it comes to a flex point use a high quality braided line(and check them often). that will minimize your chance of faliure.
as far a guages we use a steel line and just bend it in a loop before it goes into the gauge and that helps control vibration. but they would be easier to work around.
now a gauge will only reach around 120 psi at the most in a mod. so you could use a good braided line but it will not give as accurate of reading as a steel line will.
