i have seen some guys use a rasp on a 8 inch grinder that tire repair shops use to scuff the inside of a tire before they patch it. if anyone knows what i am talking about could you tell me where to get one. the one i saw was copper colored and is about 8 inches in diameter

just use an angle grinder and scuff them with regular old grinding wheels

All we use is a grinder with 40 girt flap wheels. These seem to work best for us and leave a good texture on the tire. We have used both 4.5" and 7" grinding wheels.

Go to a autobody supply store and ask for paint busters

How about you just buy a tire griding wheel? They're around $40, but they will get you a few more races out of a tire. Plus a ground tire works much better then a new one on a dry slick track. Don't be afraid to grind them alot!!!! Just don't get busted......
