We are going to run our dirt mod on the asphalt track in Cedar Rapids IA. It's a 1/4 mile track and we have never been on the asphalt before and we're wondering what size gear we should run and if there are any set up changes that we should do. The car is a 99 Jet Viper Z-link swing arm, 800# pull bar, left front 750#, right front 850#, left rear is a 250#, right rear 225#.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

This is tough because every car is so different. I just ran Oswego speedway a 5/8 mile track. I believe you can only do so much I would stiffen up your shocks in front say if you had a 76 series on the RF go to a 77 etc. Try to get as much rear % off, and add some left side weight. There is a smaller 1/3 mile track locally and most are running gear between 5.29 and 5.83. For one race don't spend a weeks worth of time. Do the above, have some fun.
My 2 cents

what are the mod rules at hawkey downs??

I have been trying to find someone with a stock car who wants to go. I have raced pavement for the last 10 years, late models last year, and now live in western Iowa, moved here in dec.

gears 600-650 depending on your rpm you want.

stock cars have to run a certain rear percent 52 percent, thats way tooo much for pavement so a lot of adjusting will be necesary to it to turn and not push.

the mod rules say a minimum of 58% rear and a maximum of 54% left side
