Nothing wrong with a powerglide as long as you mount them correctly.
We have ran the same tranny and casing since 2000.
Support the tail with rods running from rear tranny mount location to the mid plate and you should never have any trouble.

Contact Burt from Burt Brown Racing Transmissions. I have had great luck with his glides. He also sells a tail section mount similar to what was previously mentioned. Two bars mount to bell housing tabs and down to tail section. Great 1 / 2 shifting on restarts with his tranys. www.burtbrownracingtrans.com

We run a powerglide with the Burt Brown style support rods to the rear mount. We are running a 4 link and have not had any problems with it.

We run a glide and a 3-link, and hike it up a mile only trouble we ever had was when the drive shaft hit the loop and it destroyed the tranny. Make sure you have clearance and you won't have any trouble. No tailshaft supports though or you will be replacing cases every week. the minute you have enough for a brinn buy one and keep the glide for a spare.
