if at all possible, mount the filter on the engine. due to chassis restrictions i have to run a remote filter and i use an oil cooler too since i need external lines to the remote filter anyway. if you do run a remote filter try to keep all the fittings straight as you will lose pressure with a lot of bends and 90 degree fittings. also try to keep everything as close to the block as possible.

I believe Barnes makes a billit filter mount which will prevent that from happening again. Speedway motors has one also #720-1025 but I don't know if it's cast or machined.
