We used to run Hy-Tran in a couple of 350 turbos we had set up for circle track and had several problems. They would start acting up and not shifting right. We went back to dextron III and the problems went away. Have not tried it in the powerglide and we are not going to due to the problems we experienced before.

I have used UTF (universal tractor fluid) for 2 seasons now with good results. I have a ford C-4 trany with a convertor, but I have heard of some powerglides also using UTF. The biggest advantage I have seen with the UTF is that it takes the heat better. When I would change the trany fluid with regular tranny fluid it would always smell a little burnt. When I change fluid now, the UTF looks and smells like new. When the trany was rebuilt after last season, everything looked good. This is the same fluid that is used in most all farm tractor trany's. Both manual and powershift. I also like to use it in the power steering. Being a farmer, I already have UTF on hand. So it is also cheaper and more convenient for me.
