I have a tilton clutch 3 disk.....for the last few races it wouldnt let me shift into gear while running but could start in gear with a junp of the car then it would release... I changed everything up to the clutch master, line, rebuilt T/O bearing and it still does it....yep checked to make sure it wasnt to close and all that.... Took the clutch out tonight and the steels did not want to come off...i had to pry them off. So i am thinking that i can just use the belt sander on the steels to open them up a tad on the ones that are sticking... Has anyone else done this or had a problem with em???

Sounds like you got it hot and slightly warped the steels. Only reason I say this is because I did the same thing a couple years ago loading a damaged car on a trailer with a 5.5" clutch. I opened the clearances back up (against the advice of Tilton) in a similar manner to what you said (die wheel really carefully), so they could slide free and used it another season and a half.

Why did it only last 1 1/2 seasons? Did it break or was it ok still?

It was still working fine, end of last season was just the last time that car was raced.
