J bar vs. Straight bar or Panhard bar, What are the pros & cons? Which do you think is better?

What angle do you run the J bar and does it have a rubber biscuit?

Do you change the angle when you go to the Straight bar?

I like to go in "Deep" at the bottom and let it slide up to the top then stand on it hard at about the middle of the corner. I`m looking for more side bite on a 2 bar Dirt Works and a better Exit as all`s I`m doing is smoking the tires off the car on exit.

The track has a lot of sand in it so I don't know where the answers at???

With a shorty bar, dont use much angle. You possibly are driving it in too hard which will make it skate up and lose speed which in turn makes you spin your tire coming off. Try not driving in so deep and get the car to turn first, then get back on the gas.

I'm gonna sound like a jerk here, but I gotta. Learn how to drive. If you're driving like that, I bet everyone at your track if laughing at you. I can't stand people who use up the entire track like that. If you go in low, MAINTAIN YOUR LINE. What would you do if someone was trying to pass you on the outside? You'd probably be the first on to get pi$$ed and throw a tantrum because you got run over.

Your car might be fine if you actually DROVE it instead of trying to fight it like a bucking bull.

Geeeeee I don't know what say to that one...lol

devil wrench I don't seem to be fighting the car at all. I`v got pretty much control or as much control as anyone else. I don't think you could pass me in a corner unless you go in as hard and come out as hard. You must be one of those people that throw a tantrum because you cant run with the guy`s up front. If I`m in front of you what ever line I take is "my line"! You will know where I`m running if you can keep up?
I love it when guy`s talk about finding a line and staying in it...lol... You`ll never win a race playing fallow the leader!
Some where you`v got to look out side your box!!!!
I know what you were trying to say but you should find a nicer way to say it... ROTFLMAO

BTW....Yes You did sound like a Jerk
devil wrench Thanks for the info on this topic, You must not have much to share on J Bar`s or Straight bar but your a master at driving in a line so the guy behind ya can pass ya.
I bet you get passed a lot ?? You go a head and MAINTAIN YOUR LINE and give me that easy pass!!!

It`s all goood

While healing from my scars that devil wrench left on me I found this Topic that might be of some help to someone else on J bar`s or Straight bar`s. I would still like to know what the rest of you think is better and why? and at what angle you run your`s?

Holding up the guys behind you to finish ahead of them isn't racing...it's blocking. You said yourself "alls I'm doing is smoking the tires off the car on exit." Try driving the car around the corner instead of just backing it in and standing on it. No matter what setup you put in the car, driving like that will never be fast on a slick track. It's definitely the way to go on a heavy stop and go track, though.

When people pull that crap in front of me, they watch the rest of the race from the infield.

The infield I don't think that anyone in the last 10 years has ever came up to me saying that I was holding them up.
Now I do get a lot of guy`s saying if I pull that slide crap on them they`ll punt me ... To bad they cant catch me to punt me Just like this weekend I had a guy that I passed on the entry of 3 like he was in park, He came up after the race wanting to know what in the **** do I run for spring`s because he`s never seen a car that can go in as hard and not slide off the top.

Now as far as a a slick track, ya your right it wouldn't work "Never said it would" But I still wont run the same line as the guy I`m passing because I`ll never get around a car that`s in the same grove as I`m in.

I wished we raced at the same track because I would like to see you put me in the infield and not need a new car after you did it!
If your faster you`ll find a way around a car with out using them for a rail!

Now I really think your a "Jerk", anyone that has to hit a car to get around them and put them in the infeild has to be a "jerk"

hey guys, thought we were talking about panhard bars here, not driving styles? i'm new to the forum here, but i think that a straight bar is a pretty good thing to go with. I do agree that you can't have extreme angle in it to work. I run a long panhard bar with little angle in it. I am in the process of converting it to a straight bar. Ford5 will probably respond to this and give you more info. he can probably tell you a little more on this topic.
