Most tracks in the Dallas area already pay the second choice or better. I would rather run for the second than first anyday. I don't go out to the track just to get the money to start the main, I go out to win. The more money up front the better is the way I feel about it. When I don't finish well, $20 isn't going to make me feel any better! Just my opinion, though.

37 views, 3 replies...come on guys......1 or 2? The payout isn't great, but it is the payback we are looking at.

#1 we only have $1000 payout though.I agree w/the fact of most of the guys that win all the time don't need it as bad as some of us.i just hope to make out even with getting the crew in

Guys, I know these arent the best numbers, and there are better....I just need a choice between 1 and 2. Payback is the key here.....thats basically what you are looking at as well bandit.

Of the two choices given, #1. But I would rather go with Bandit's purse schedule. And out there in Arkansas and those areas, you guys have tons of cars (modifieds), a higher purse is definately warranted. Have not figured out why you don't have higher purse's though...... Just my 2 cents worth.

My answer is 1, being a rookie it would be nice to get a little more than tow money. Besides aren't we all in it to have fun any way?

Keeps the newer racers coming back too. eventually those guys will get better. if they have the drive. Maybe some laps led incentive too!

#2- I race to win. But I understand people choosing 1. There is only 1 winner a night!

Jammin-
I like #1.
We have a series here in NY, that is "For the drivers, By the drivers" called N.E.A.R.A. (North East Affordable Racers Association)
that pays just about exactly what you have listed as #1.

I'll go for #1 . Most of the time the top 5 positions are taken by the same drivers. The rest of the field are what pays the purse, they need some money to take home too.

#2, $5 difference between some in the top 10 of #1, why try that last lap pass?

Number 1. Winners get the glory. Better payback means they will probably show up again next week.

Our purse is similar. $400 to win. $100 to start.

I like #2. I allways race to win, and belive that there has to be a reason to do good. I hate those guys that show up to drive a race car, and that's it. They are usually in the way.

for me it depends on how much it costs to race. I strongly believe you should at LEAST get your entry fee back for making an A-main.At our track it is a Dolly Parton purse it goes from 700 to nothing in a hurry very top heavy. and it is never the same. he bases the purse on his crowd. There could be twice as many cars as usual, but if it's a colder bad weather nite and there is no crowd, then he punishes the racers. A few miles away down in Yreka California they pay the racers out of the back gate.which means if theres more cars the payout is bigger.

I would not race for either purse. Check out the pay scale at our local track. www.midamericaspeedway.com

"why try that last lap pass?"

Because the car your passing is the the one your racing whether its for 1st or 20th.
