take the driveshaft out and see if that helps, sounds like rearend to me.

sounds like that to me too also i'd look at getting rid of that heavy converter if it's made for pulling it's heavier then stock and you want as little rotating weight as you can

did you rebuild the glide I have seen some people add an exra clutch disk in the high gear drum witch will cause a drag when turning by hand usually ok on track.

Bad U joint maybe? If the needle bearings are worn it will drag once the slack is taken up. How many races are on the centersection?

Sounds lie a U-joint or a bent rear housing. Check the pinion bearing also while you have the shaft out.
