Hi, opened up my new Stewart Stage 1 long waterpump. There is a warning tag stating not to use a mech. fan on the 5/8 shaft pump. I don't run electric, so do what do you think? Thanks, Race

I run mechanical on mine. Don't remember if there is a warranty on those but it would be a good way around it, beings so few run electric.

Hope this helps....

I bought a Stewart stage II, and mine had the same tag. I called Stewart and asked exactly what was a mechanical fan?

From the way they described it to me, they stated it was one from a "stock type" fan, straight out of a street car. Like the thin metal flex fans etc.

I told them I had one from Jr. Motorsports, or Midwest or any speed shop for that matter. They ensured me that these type of fans would be fine, and the warning did not apply to those. Mainly he stated because these fans are designed for higher RPM's and are for racing, where "mechanical" as they state are fans from street use. I hope he was honest and just not being a salesman. lol

Hope this helps.....
Shawn
