I have a metric with stock upper and lower a-arms. Put spring adjuster in the front so have to move the shocks. Where is the best place to mount them. It looks like the tire will rub the shock if tires are turned all the way. Is this normal. Steering stops have been removed. Should I put them back in. Need some advice. Running 3 offsets and hoosier dirt boss 86 roll on 8" wheels

My concern is how a spring adj will cause enuf problem to make a move necessary. We have to modify the adj some but thats it.

get a mount that bolt to the upper ball joint, most speed shops sell them, this is where the bottom of the shock will mount. then make a bracket for the upper and weld to a front kicker of something, i will look for a pic and try to get it on here.

That sounds like a idea. Hope you can find a picture. I wonder if there is room above the a-arm for the shock. I'll have to go to the shop and look.

beware to use angle and spring rates as advised by a good shock co. like afco, they are different than underhung units, I think.

I'm not sure I'm following you Bobaluuu. Are you saying I may need to change spring rate to run shocks over the top and a specific angle on the shock. Does any one else run the shock mounted to the bottom a-arm on the outside and then the top mounted to the front hoop. What are you guys with weight jacks doing with your shocks?

one of the good things about putting the shoch where i mentioned is that it gets it out of harms way. if you mount it to the outside of the bottom a, it puts it in a more vulnerable place. just something to thing about. i couldnt find a pic sorry.

My car was setup with 3 different shock mounts.

One as describe above... mounted above the balljoint and to an extension to the frame hoop.

Secondly...mounted to the lower A-frame in front and to a mount on the frame hoop.

Thirdly...mounted to the backside of the lower A-frame and connected up top to the frame hoop.

I bought this car with this setup and tried to get oppinions on which is best, but everyone had differing oppinions.

I chose to go with the above the ball joint mount, but can switch if this doesn't work out.

BTW... Here is a link about building the above the ball joint shock mounts. This not exactly like mine, but similiar.
