I RUN A STEEL FAN NOW BUT MY CAR IS GOING ON A BIG DIET. ARE THERE ANY DISADVANTAGES TO RUNNING A PLASTIC FAN. I ALREADY KNOW THE ADVANTAGE ABOUT 4 LBS.!!!

I ran the plastic flex fan on the asphalt when I went to dirt I was going through 1 aweek because the track was rocky and I kept getting chunks broke out of it. The aluminum flex fans are junk, I would run the steel fan or go to the electric like im going to. Eddie

We have had several aluminum fans come apart and do sever damage. One came apart and we found the blade in the 1 3/4 .095 ERW chassis tube and it was about 2/3 the way through it. I could not imagine what it would have done if it came out and hit someone.
We have run the plastic for many years with no problems.
REDNECK RACING if you are breaking fan blades I am guessing you do not run a fan shroud or are using one that dose not fit your rad. If it was closed in as it should be the only rocks hitting the fan would have to come through the radiator first.
