Maybe it's me, but i'm thinking that i've been out of touch lately, so could someone help me here?

The new rule (actually, the ammendment) for the Hobby Stock division is:

""MUST"" run hydraulic flat tappet cam (390-410 lift)

"Ammendment":

Cam button or locking plate now allowed!

Did I miss something over the years here, or are hydraulic flat tappet cam users, having a problem with cam walk?

Please help me catch up here!

Have a great day,
Wind Walker

Ive been argueing that point for yrs who ever writes the rules that we have to run under should be able to disassymble an engine and put it back together but I guess that would take some of the fun out of it.....Towman

I can see using a button with a roller cam, but the flat tappet lobe is ground to where the cam runs toward the rear of the engine. It seems to me if you're having problems with cam & distributor gear wear, it would suggest an off-set cam bearing/s, or not having the correct block demisions (lack of good machine work).

Don't get me wrong here, as I'm not degrading anyone for using a cam button with a hydraulic flat tappet cam, i'm just merely stating that it shouldn't be needed without a roller cam, and therefor why would a "cam button" be amended in the rule.

Alot of the trouble I have seen with worn cam and distributor gears is people running 50 weight oil and some even running high volume oil pumps and its to much of a load running the rpms that a dirt car engine has to run....just thought Id mention that may or may not be your problem......Towman

racer17, Windwalker posted ""MUST"" run hydraulic flat tappet cam (390-410 lift) you posted it wasn't a rule, just getting confused ! the track we run is outlaw but the rules are real close to IMCA...Jim
