You can try wrapping the starter with some foil backed insulation sometimes that helps also be sure you have good grounds....I always run a ground from the battery to the cage from the cage to the engine and from the engine to the body because alot of people ground switches and other things to the sheet metal and it works good with a body ground....towman

Make sure there is a good chassis ground on the chassis to the engine. We have had a similar problem and it seemed to go away when we ran a negative wire from the chassis to the starter mounting bolt.
