Author Topic:   Powerglide pump pressure

Have a Bushore style glide, with the external hand valve. The valve is hooked up with hydraulic hoses from NAPA (heavy stuff). Can I replace all this stuff with aeroquip aluminum push-loc fittings and blue hose? I know I could use it on the "drain" side of the valve, but what about the pressure side?

The pushlock stuff is rated to 250psi. Does a glide pump put out more than that?

The actual pump pressure before it is regulated down could exceed 350-400 psi. The more rpms, the higher the raw pump pressure. I would recommend line with a higher pressure rating. Even though the return side wont be used when you cut the valve off, it is used when the valve is open so it still needs a good psi rating.

Thanks for the reply Scott. Wow 350-400 PSI! I'd have never figured it was that much.

Sound like I could use pushloc on the return line. It'd never see that 350-400 PSI, as I shouldn't ever be opening that valve at WOT. I'd have other problems besides the return line if I did that....

I think I'll just keep using what I'm using. I was just looking to save some weight. Any other options from TCI that I could upgrade my Glide with and save some lbs?

Thanks again.
