What is the largest difference in between vortec heads and 300 double hump heads? I am at a point where I need to decide what head to run next year. I have a set of 441's and a set of 300 double hump, but many competitors have switched to the vortec heads. Just wondering which was better. Thanks

That really depends of alot of variables but mostly on what type of intake you can run,if you can run an aftermarket aluminum intake i'd go with the vortec's,but if you are limited to a factory type cast iron intake you may want to stay with the old hump's,especially if you can run a bowtie intake.I know some people swear by the vortec's and they are good heads it's just that i'm not impressed with the low performance cast intakes available for them right now.

If you can go with an aftermarket alum intake that has the vortech bolt pattern they are the poop. If you have to drill and tap for an older style intake you lose any benifit they give you. Best heads out of the box, you can get double humps to perform better if your rules allow porting. Ours don't.

Best heads out of the box is decieving, you do have to do some spring work to these to use higher lift cams. It cost me $40 for the machine work so it wasn't to bad. I have a set of 441's too, and the difference between those and the vortech's is noticable using my "seat of the pants" dyno.

vortecs hands down. the 441's are smog heads for 305's. they do well but not as well as the vortec. i have the flow numbers for both if you need them. goto chevyhiperformance.com and check out the tech articles. they have the flows for them also. if you can run aftermarket intakes - try the victor junior. you wont be dissapponted. also scoggin dickey sells a cast iron performance intake for the vortec with gm casting numbers.
