Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a floater and a grand national floater? My hubs are 5 on 4 3/4. Ive heard that this means its a mini 5 or something like that.Im trying to figure out what axles i need to use.Does it even matter?

a GN floater uses different snouts and can only use the 5 on 5" bolt pattern or larger because of the size of the snouts. if your hubs are 5 on 4.75", then your rearend is using the wide 5 type snouts also called a mini 5 by some manufacturers.

a wide 5 snout is a little shorter than a GN snout. i'm guessing that the axles will be a little shorter than a GN of the same width.

grand national use a larger brg, and wont work with 4.75 bolt patterns.

cobra53 had some axles in the classifieds for 10 bucks each, I would see if hes got your length..

They make grand national with both 5x5 and 5 x 4-3/4. The gn **** has about a 2" ID and the wide 5 has about a 1-1/2" ID.
