Several racer supply co's sell a worm gear that increases ratio. You can also get quicker ratio steering boxes. Look for these 2 if its a GM, last two numbers are 92(14-1) or 97(12.7-1).

I just got a 12:1 'Z' box for next year, but I assumed that my 2:1 quickner would be TOO fast. Figured I'd step down to a 1.5:1 quickner.

Do any of you run the 12:1 box with a 2:1 quickener?

I've always ran the 14-1 box with a 2-1 quicksteer, but I'm itchin for quicker. I'm gonna try the 12.7-1 box next year.

2 problems with what I am reading here. 1st off, the metric cars used 2 types of gears. one has 4 bolts holding the top cover down and one has a large snap ring. The snap ring type cannot be quickened in the gear itself so you would have to use an additonal quickener or lengthen the pitman arm which you would have to remount the gear on the frame to do. Then of course the radiator would have to be remounted too. The 4 bolt type can be replaced with any quicker gear. Taxis and police cars also used the quicker gear but you will need to replace the pitman arm to match the gear as the splines are different. Depending on how much quicker you need it a smaller steering wheel reduces the amount of hand travel to turn ratio also. Also, if you swap from teh ring retained cover to the 4 bolt cover you will have to use the pitman arm for the 4 bolt gear as they are different too. Hope this and all the others helps. Good luck!
