Author Topic:   Bumpsteer and ackermann and steering on a metric
posted October 24, 2003 10:44 PM
I would like to get my car as good as I can get it using metric upper and lower a-arms but I don't have the gauges, about all I do have is a homemade caster camber gauge. Anybody got a setup that would get me close.

A cheapo method to set the front end ie:
block car at ride specs, no springs or shocks
clamp a 4' piece of angle iron to the rotor so its pointed forward and resting on the floor
raise the lower a-arm and mark the floor with soap stone as the angle iron moves.
this will give you bump steer, trun the wheels and get ackerman
doing it on the rear will help you with roll steer, checking for bent housing
