Hey fellas, I need your help. I'm running a factory stock camaro with a 10 bolt rear-end. I don't have enough gear running a 3.73 with a Turbo 350 in second gear. Which comes out to 5.67 right. I need closer to a 5.86 or a 5.90. Where can i get aftermarket gears for a 10 bolt??????? I am looking for like a 3.85 or a 3.88 does anybody know of anybody with gears like this.

You can get a 3.90 gear.

you can look in pretty much any racing catolog like speedway or summit or jegs or even ebay is a great place to find gears but your next choice is a 411 i think but they may have a 3.90 in a 8.5 rear end i know that all they have for 7.5's anyway or you might want to look into running first gear and a 2.41 that puts you art a 6.07 or run the 3.73 and run some shorter tires if you are alowed to that waht i do most guys i run against are running 410's with a tall tire and i run a 373 also but run about 4 inches shorter tire and we turn pretty much the same r's

Where can i get a 3.90? is that aftermarket only? I already checked the speedway and JR Motorsports catalogs and they go from 3.73 to 4.11. I guess 3.90 would work, if nothing is made in the 3.8 range. It would get me closer than i am now.

thanks for the quik replies guys i have already tried to go to smaller tires i still don't have enough gear to run with these guys.

why run in second?
Why not run a 2.43 or 2.56, gear and run in low?

is there an advantage to running in second vs low?

thanks rico, M1 i can't run in low with a turbo 350. The first gear ratio is 2.52 i believe and that would give me a 6.12 and a 6.45 which is way too much for our track, we have guys running 600's and they turn 7000 RPM on flat top 6 inch rodded motors my stock rodded 355 won't last long at 7000. right now i am at 5.66 and the motor bogs down in the middle of the corner and coming off i think a 5.85 would be about perfect

we run a 4/10 mile high banked and 2.41 or 2.56 in first it will give you about 6100 .Some other guys run 4.10 in second which actually falls between the 2.41 and 2.56 in 1st.

Look on EBAY. Great Source and many gears are available. Some with carriers and some just with gears. Check it out.

speedway that all depends on your tire roll i ran a 2.28 in first on a 4/10 and a 1/2 this year turned 6400 on the 4/10 and 6700 on the 1/2 but i also run a 80 in tire on the rear i'm willing to bet you probably run in the 88-90 something range for a roll? i'm not a big fan of running in low on bigger tracks maybe on a 1/4 but not on the 1/2's mine lasted two nite in low so i went to a 3.73 so i could run 2nd again

Racer 17j what kind of Air Pressure do you run in the smaller tires? I was going lower and lower each week but kept going backwards so i went up to 28 lbs in the rear tires and finished fifth but had to feather it a lot (on a real tacky track). i was running 19-20 lr 21 RR 18 LF 23 RF. know anybody thats got a 3.90 they would sell me? we run on a track that is supposed to be 3/8ths but its bigger than that i have drove around the top in my truck and it is right between 4/10 and 1/2 on the odometer but thats right on the top.

I currently run a 2.43 gear in low. I go into the corners at about 6,000-6,200. I was going to go to 2.73 but thats just too much gear. So mathematically, if I go to a 3.50 gear and run second, I should be able to "split" that difference.

Final drive now is 4.94 with 2.73 it would be 5.25 and I want somewhere between that. So a 3.50 gear in second, would give me a 5.10....RIGHT?!?!?

Am I thinking this right?

What tranny are you running M1?

with 2.41 in 1st with a turbo350 it would be 6.12 with 2.73 in 1st it would be 6.87
2.56 in 1st=6.45
in 2nd gear 3.23=4.90
3.42=5.19
3.73=5.66
3.90=5.92
4.10=6.23
hope this helps

M1 if you want more gear run in second with a 4.11 gear for 6.16.Or a 2.56(8.5 ring gear) in low for 6.45.

I run a turbo 350, with a 305 in a 77 buick regal, everything is stock. Very stock. BLAH BLAH BLAH...get my drift...lol

M1, you do not figure you final ratio by adding the two gears. You multiply the gears together. for example right now you have a 6.12 final drive ratio if you run in low gear. 2.43*2.52=6.12 if you go to a 3.50 and run in second gear you will be going down. 3.50*1.52=5.32 remember to multiply. if you want to go up run a 4.11 in second gear. that will give you a 6.25.

ANYBODY KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS A 3.90 GEAR????????????????

it depends on what carrier you use.

they make gears so you can put the 4.10 gears on your 2.42 carrier or else you will need to use a carrier that had 3.08 or higher ratio carrier to use the 4.10 gears.

just tell which carrier you have & they will fix you up.
