what do you need to get your car done ? you can buy alot of good stuff on swap meet but you can also get taken just make a list of what you need and whatn it costs new to be safe

Avoid pistons(unless you bring ur mic's)cams,oil pumps,valves,timing chains,almost anything that normally gets replaced after abuse,BTW i've got a 780 holley for $75 with extras.

one thing to check is see if the guy is moving up a class or somethoing so that he is selling the parts for a good reason not because it's messed up and he wants to pawn it off on somebody. i'm gonna have to agree with rico also when you buy used motor parts thats just what your getting

As a general rule, A used race part is usually worth about half to two-thirds of new price depending on condition. Beware of anything that wears/ is subject to alot of heat. Get there early as they are setting up and see what deals the local racers have. The other "swappers" will generally buy up the good deals and resell at a profit. Common sense and frugality go along way! Good Luck.
