Our rules don't require mufflers and we can run headers, but I run dual 2 1/2" pipes off the headers that end right in front of the rear wheels. There's also a H-pipe right by the tranny. You can pickup some throttle response and midrange with a balance pipe of some kind. So make sure to put in a H pipe somewhere. Or, you could run dual 2 1/2" Y pipe to a single 3 1/2" pipe. A single 3 1/2" will flow the same as dual 2 1/2".

2 1/2" center dump corvette manifolds down to a flowmaster y-pipe 2 1/2" in and 3" or 3 1/2" out to a 2 chamber flowmaster with a 12" tailpipe straight back. More torque available off the corners than dual exhaust. Check a flowmaster catalog for specs and lengths or call the toll-free tech line. Berzinski web site also has information on using a y-pipe.
