I have a 77 Nova that was in a pretty bad accident half way through the season The front clip was bend and then straightened on a frame machine but never drove the same way again. Now that the season is over I'm planning on reclipping the front end. My question is everyone says to reclip it with a camaro clip which From reading the archives it dosen't sound like it would be too dificult, Unfortinately my sponsor A salvage yard dosen't have a camaro clip but does have another nova i could take the clip off of. Should i go with the nova or will i be regretting it the rest of the time i own the car. Thanks in advance for the help.

yes a camaro clip would be better if you can find one but just replacing it with a free one isn't gonna hurt anything thats the one good thing about unibody cars ez to change clips and down the road if you do find a camaro it's just a couple day progect to put it under

the 2 clips are identical exept for the front horns also a caddy seville from the late 70s will work(may be wrong on name of caddy )

donnie is correct. i have a camaro clip on my nova. becase the horns on the camaro clip are smaller it is a little lighter than the nova clip.

overall a camaro clip probably is not any lighter.

novas have a narrower cross member under the engine, and the rear part of the clip is not as wide. they do have larger frame horns from the steer box mount forward.

I have one of each sitting side by side. If I had them both stripped the same I could weigh them.

I thought there was a difference in the geometry that made the camaro clip handle a lot better. I have a 3600LB weight limit so the weight isn't a problem. Sounds like I'll be going with the Free nova clip. Thanks everyone for the Info.

geometry wise they are identical, they use the same steer box, idler, pitman, and centerlink etc.

the difference is that the nova spindles make it 60 inches wide while the camaro make it 61.5.

79 and up on both camaro, nova use a larger outer brg.
