Did shift ok before it stripped? Did it make any noise in 2nd? What other things happened?

that's a common problem when you're using the transmission to get your final drive. if your rules allow, run a 9" with a final gear in it, you can run your transmission in the "1 to 1" gear(3rd in a 3 speed). this should cure your problem.

the second gear is most likely to get stripped when you are on the power, such as exiting the corner, and get hit in the left rear wheel.

well one of the morons we race with and belive me he is hit about 4 times before the greeen on the pace lap so I fugure that did it plus in turn one a car spun.. and got hit again... when I was crossin the line to compleate the first lap she let go

i stripped 2nd gear in a ford toploader 3 speed coming off the corner and was untouched and i've broke 9" axles the same way. if you race long enough, you will break parts under many different scenarios. sometimes fatigue is the culprit, sometimes you get help from others. i've also stripped a spool from getting hit in the wheel under power and i've stripped another spool in hot laps untouched... go figure.

and sometimes the damage is done 3 weeks or so before and it just didnt break at that exact moment.........yes fatigue is also a factor.
