I think you need to unbolt the cover off
of the front of the trany, covering the input shaft. Then pull out the input shaft a little, and use snap ring pliers to remove
the front bearing retainer.

then go the the rear, unbolt the cone bolts
and slowly pull out the rear section. There
maybe some needle pins that fall out when
seperating input or output shaft. just regreese then and put them back into place, the greese will hold them in.

then use snap ring pliers, to remove output drive shaft from cone cover.

i forgot to add. make sure you remove the side cover, otherwize the shift folks will keep things in place.

just use two 3/8 rods and run them up into the car and bend an L on the end for shifter levers

I did the rod thing on my 'glide as a "temporary" fix and it has been that way for 2 months now

we did it two years ago and still going strong it's reraly nice now that we have gone with the setback cages used to run the stock shifters but you can't reach them in our new cars so the rods are a $5 dream come true instead of having to buy a shifter and rods that run around 150

where do you find a shifter and rods that cost 150$? i think mine from speedway was 50$ tops.

mount your shifter to your car back behind the tranny where you CAN reach the handle.

then make some new rods that are longer, or basically just lengthen yours.

youll never need to pull your shifter again just the two or 3 rods at the tranny end. i use pins on the tranny end also.
