Running 2 bats in series to get a 24 volt system. Can all of the 12 volt stuff handle it? I was also thinking that with 2 bats that I could use them as weight ballests too. What do you think?

do a search on here for 18 volt system that would be a better set up it's wired so you start with the 12 volt then switch on the other 6 to power the hei

Stop at 18 volts. 24 is at the limit of what the electrics will stand and you can get into some failures. Get a 6 volt of the size you need for ballast and wire it to the 12 for 18 volts. Better yet, wire it for 18 volts to the ignition and 12 to the starter. Over 12 to the starter doesnt do much for you. It will increase speed but not torque. 16 volts will decrease starter life by about 25 percent. SLEEPY

If your wanting the weight to, go with 2 6v golf cart batts. and you will never run them down.I'm using 2 105 min. reserve @75 amp draw and could problably go 3 nights or more with out a charge. they weigh 120 lbs. mounted over the rear axle.
