Was wandering what the forums thought was on rods for a 400 sbc 5.7. Looking at next years motor, Can't spend 400 on rods and was curious what would be a good choice. Running a a powerglide with 3.73 gears on a 1/4 mile dirt. Thanks in advance. Currently with my dished 350 w/stock 305 heads turning 5700 rpm with 205/70/15 goodyears. Mud

You can spend a chunk on X rods....I bought some at a good price, then shipped them, then had then cleaned and re sized and then paid to have the pistons pressed on them. I wish I would have spent a few more $ and just bought a set of Eagle SIR's. Note-all X rods are not created equal! You want only the wide beams if that's what you decide to run.

Cat, Eagle and Scat all make decent I-beam bushed rods that'll take 500ish HP and are under $200.
