Hello all. I've got a set of 461 double hump heads with no accesory holes in them. How would I go about mounting an alternator on this motor?? I'm not sure if there is a different type bracket or what. Thanks.

I bought a bracket that bolts to the header bolts at Orielly's worked well.

Do you remeber a part number on that bracket?? Was it in the aftermarket section?? I don't run one on my car, this is acctually for a mud truck we are building for the "stock" class so we kinda need one on it to appear stock.

The bolt that goes thru the alt that goes into the head is the problem,i just put a shorter bolt in and a nut on the backside,if it starts flexing then you need to fab a mount from the water pump.

Rico, that was exactlly what I was thinking after looking at his mount. I think we can make it work. Thanks for all the replies.

The perfect fix for this problem is to use a smog pump bracket. Mount the bracket in the stock location under where the alternator would normaly mount. The big block version will work also, you just need to drill another mounting hole.

I like running my alt. off the rear end that way it's out of the way and I never have to worry about it.
