I have a 153 tooth flywheel and now I need a starter but my block is only drilled and tapped for the offset style starter. Now what do I do? Do I have to drill the missing hole? Our rules also say it must be a oem starter but Id be happy with anyone that would work.

I should have stuck with the 350 turbo.

Thanks

I know on my motors i got 3 holes for my starter. i can go strait across or stagered. double check see if u do have 3 holes on the block.

The best way would be to find a starter rebuilding shop or salvage yard that has a broken cast iron starter nose with both patterns and use it to drill the other hole.

the angle starter holes are for the bigger flywheel and changing the starter housing wont correct the problemi bolted the mini starter on the block aligning it as best i could drilled through the starter hole to get a mark removed the starter drilled the hole and tapped it theres a small amount of play in the housing holes any way.i might have just gotten lucky and it all worked smooth but others here have done the same thing and it worked for them too have to addmit i was scared at first thinking i was gonna mess up my block but now id try it again in a heart beat but i bet ya i notice it next time before i build the motor lol
