mudd off... works great

have seen guys use cooking oil, baby oil, even heard of diesel fuel/tranny fluid mix. For the hassle mudd off is the best. Just mix it up in a small garden sprayer and spray it on. one batch lasts longer than you would think.

Several things I have used;

years ago we used diesel...
later we used trans fluid and solvent mixed.
we also used baby oil, or WD40.
now we use Muddoff.

Mudd-Off here too. I dunno if it really keeps the mud from sticking, but it certainly makes the clean-up easier. Especially at the car wash.

prob about any race supply store will carry it. I know places like Midwest Motorsports have it. As for cost 1 qt costs about 8$ and mixes up to 3 gallons, so it lasts quite awhile. We are still using our first batch this year. Plus its a lot easier, safer, and plain works better than the other options. .

So what's the application if you use baby oil? Just rub it on the car with a cloth. it won't hurt the decals or anything like that will it?

I too use baby oil. It seems to clean easier than Mudd Off. Leaves a nicer shine to the car too. And like RacnSooner said, it can be purchased at the $1 store. (It's also fun to go up to the counter help, and say "Hey big boy. Where do you have all that heavenly baby oil" [IMG] )

I apply by squirting a little (a little goes a long way) to the area I want to cover. I then spread it around with a paper towel.

As far as the decal, that depends on the material you or your decal supplier uses. To date, it hasn't hurt my decals. [IMG]

Believe it or not, I heard on here a while back that furniture polish works....if you use a name brand, like Pledge, it will work well....the main thing with it is to wipe it all down and spread it all over the car. It works for me, most of the mud bounces off the car after it hits. We are still using it.....

The Pledge is the best BUT use the one with orangeoil in it.Used it for 2 years and it's alot cheaper than Muddoff,and safer than any fuel.

I use baby-oil and water. I know they don't mix, but I put them 50/50 in a Windex-like spray bottle and shake it up as I spray the bottom side of the car. This makes the baby oil go further. I do it with the car on the trailer, but a word of caution--if you have a metal floor trailer it will be slick! If you use baby oil, I wouldn't recommend spraying it on the top side of the car--makes the dust stick and you will be nasty at the end of the night!
