I don't know much about setting gears up but I do know that the nut that holds the pinion on is not reverse threaded. Are you using a mini spool or a full spool?

Pinion nuts are in my experience always right hand thread the only thing you may see that's left handed are the ring gear to carrier bolts but i'm not that experienced with ford rears.

If you're going to a taller gear, such as a 6.00 you will need to do some modification (grinding) to the housing just below the pinion teeth. This is needed because the ring gear is a lot thicker than the stock one. It's better to do this with the pinion gear out.

ive never had this rearend apart but i assume the spider gears are welded.. as for the gear im gonna use its probably gonna be a 6.50 or a 6.33 i havent made my mind up yet!! right now my final is 6.15 on a 3/8 med banked clay.. running a sag. in high gear..ive already posted on the gear topic and i think the 6.50 will be better that way i could run at some of the smaller tracks around here
