I am(was going to) run 1970 D0OE Cobra Jet heads on my 351w. The machine shop that made the rockers studs bigger, drilled clear thru the water passage, to the ports. Is there any fix to this? We were filling up the radiator when water came out of the headers. Pulled the intake and had to drain 2 1/2 gal of oil and water from the pan. pulled the valve covers and took off one of the rockers and shined a flashlight down where the stud was and it shone thru to the port.

Is there any fix to this or are we hosed? Any suggestions on what to do? This ***** people. My first car, and it was nearly complete, would have been out this Wednesday for practice, but now this.

I think the fix would be to have the machine shop replace the heads. If it is their fault they should replace them at no cost to you. Other than that i dont think they can be repaired.

Our problem is they are pretty rare heads. 1970's model. I've searched and can only find a couple. This freaking bites. Argh!

If you pull an intake rocker stud out , it will go clear through into the intake port , it's supposed to . The DOOE head is a 302 head . If you used a 302 head on your 351w , then the head bolt hole would need to be drilled out . Odds are , one of the head bolt holes was drilled into water , and an intake port , thus filling your engine and cylinder with water . This is an easy fix if it is in fact your problem . The head bolt holes can simply be sleeved with head bolt hole sleeve's .
