Author Topic:   why did this work?

Last year I got in a pretty good wreck and bent my front clip. I had the clip bent back out but later realized after getting DQ'd that the lower control arm mount was bent making my pass side wheelbase only 106.5 instead of the required 108 (79' Camaro). I still havent fixed it and the car was really tight because of it. A couple weeks ago I put a 1.5" spacer in the RF to get my ride heights closer to what I wanted. Everyone told me this would make me even tighter and that I had pretty much scr&wed myself. I deciced to run it anyway just to see and ended up winning my first feature. The car handled better than ever. My question is why did this seemingly incorrect adjustment end up fixing my problem?I dont understand it myself..... I know I do still need to fix the control arm mount......

Im running 1000 rf and 800 lf, my ride heights were 6"lf and 5.5"rf after changing the springs. I put in the spacer and now have 6"lf and 6.5"rf. Just right as far as I can see. I race at Fonda, not close enough to Utica to travel with my equipment (very low budget) and the rules are too different, I would have to change back and forth... thanks....

Glides....My rr tire comes off about 2 1/2 inches before the lr. I would love to race another track just to try it, but like I said I dont have the equipment. I literally put my camaro on a 12 ft. landscape trailer up on blocks so the nose clears the front rail of the trailer, no brakes either. The track is only about 15 min. away so I can risk it.
