I hear alot about RPM's and how you guys run your RPM's around 6000. What gears are you guys running in your cars? Because when I went to the toolbox, and put my info in, it is saying that I am running around 2500. I usually put my car in 2nd gear and just run it that way but are you guys running it just in drive?
Also I noticed that if you run smaller tires, your RPM's go up. But I am guessing that you dont really get as much bite.

p.s. Incase your wondering, I have a 400 small block, and the track that we race at is a little longer than 1/8 mile.

1/8 mile? don't sound right i've raced go karts on bigger tracks then that. the gear depends on the size of the track and the tire roll like mine i run on a 1/2 mile 80 in tires 2.28 rear gear in 1st gear t-350 =5.74 final 6400 rpm. on an 1/8 mile depending on your tire roll you would want to be in the high 7.something if not 8.something for a final gear

hey stormy 60 series tire means nothing when figuring gear a 205/60/15 is alot different then a 235/60/15 you need the roll not the width when figureing gears

kbrotha, if your referring to the barnum oval, it is about 1/8 mile. I know it's small guys, but we have fun there! As for rpm's, no clue here...lol first gear to the boards! Happy Racing. Scott
