Need to decide this week what tires to run. MUST run DOT tires (rules state NO racing tires)on my 2300# car with 15x8 wheels.

General consensus seems to be either Firestone Firehawks or Cooper Cobras.

My questions are:

(1) Which Firehawks? The SS20 or the Indys? Which Cobras?
(2) What should one look for, in general, when deciding on DOT tires? Those with a low mileage warranty rating, which I guess would signify a soft tire?
(3) What tread pattern?
(4) Anyone ever head of a “Super CT Sport Radial 60” tire?

If so, do you know who sells them? Who makes them?

The local Class champion 2 or 3 years running runs these, said they’re some of the softest he’s had. He did know where they came from as his sponsor picked them up.

Thanks and take care

Hello C21, hope things are going well for you.

I too saw the litagation site while searching the web for info, so maybe they're unavailable. But I thought I would keep looking.

As far as the Hoosiers, I'm awarfe of them, but I'm just trying to investigate all the angles so I might save a $ or two.

Take care and thanks for the "decoder" site info....

3 words for ya..... Hoosier Quick Time. they're D.O.T. approved. basically a drag slick thinly disguised as a street tire with a rain tread groove.

If you're looking to purchase Cooper Cobra tires, you can call US Tire & Exhaust, 1-800-490-4901. I used to buy from them a few years ago, but I can now use Hoosier racing tires. They have a few locations in the upper midwest (WI, MN, etc).

you'd be mad to use road tyre if you can run the DOT hoosiers.

I believe the only Hoosiers we can run are the hOOSIER Radials. I'll know by the weekend.

Also, I plan to check the tread wear rating on these Hoosier and compare them to the available road tire treadwear ratings. I'm assuming the lower the number, the better (while also considering tread pattern)
