What gear would you suggest running on a 1/4 mile semi banked track.I have a 358c.i. Engine with all the good stuff in it,but have to run a two barrel rochester.I am also running the power glide with a 1.82 ratio.I am thinking of trying a 4.11. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

what roll tire are you running and what rpm do you want to turn 411 will come out to be a 748 that preety steep unless you have some realy big tires or you want to turn alot of rpm most cars around here run in the 650 area with 83 in tires and turn 65-7000. might want to look at a 3.73 that will put you at 679

I run a 1/4 mile track with a 3.90 and a 3 speed in 2nd gear (1.69), which puts my final about 6.55 and I pull just about 6100 at the end of the straight. This is w/ an average of about 81-82" of rollout. This year I'm going to put a set of 4.10's in which will give me about a 6.88 final. I'd say anywhere from about 6.80-7.00 would be a good final for a 1/4 mile track. I agree with racer17j, 7.48 sounds a little steep to me also.

7.48 is way to step like everyone else said.

Try to get around 683 to 700 no mater if you have the good stuff in it or not you cant get the air flow through a two barrel rochester so you want to stay under 7000 around 6500 to 6800 will work well for you

I ran a 3.90 last year,and cranked around 6400 rpm. I would like to crank 6800-6900 rpm.I run a 255RR tire,and a 235lr tire.thats why I thought a 4.11 might help.

6400 devided by 3.9 x 4.11 = 6745 RPM
