Im wanting to change the current gears in my car. I have a powerglide with 2.73 rear gears. I would like to change to a 350 turbo and keep the same rear gear. The over all gear will be a 6.87. I was wondering if this is too low. We run on a 3/8 mile high banked dirt track.

monsterhat, my old car was equipped with T350 (I ran in high) with a 6.50 rear end, tires: 86.25 LR, 89.5 RR.

I raced primarily at a 3/8 mile medium(?) banked facilty. Saw 7000 plus numerous times at end of straight.

I guess what I'm saying is, you be the judge on how any rpm's you think you'll hit (more than likely 7ooo+) , and what you can sustain

Good luck to ya this season

monsterhat your are better off to run as deep of gear as you can it will help you off the cornere and help slow you down for the cornere plus on a dry slick track you will be faster then a lot of guys i run a 683 on a 3/8 mile track and kick *** 26 feature wins last year
